The Houston Astros win 2022 World Series
The Astros won their second world series title by winning Game 6 of the 2022 World Series 4-1 over the Philadelphia Phillies. Yordan Álvarez hit a sixth-inning home run to give Houston a lead of 3-1 that they never relinquished. Rookie Jeremy Pena took home the World Series MVP award after winning the ALCS MVP in the previous series. This is the Astros second world title in six years and the victory is the first world series title for their manager Dusty Baker as a manager. The Astros won 106 games during the regular season and completed the postseason losing only two games. They started off the postseason by beating the Seattle Mariners and the New York Yankees in their American series matchups without losing a game in either series. After losing Game 1 of the World Series to the Phillies in Houston, they bounced back to win Game 2. They then lost Game 3 7-0 and in Game 4 had a combined no-hitter, the first combined no-hitter in Major League postseason history. They won game 5 in Philadelphia and brought the title home to Houston with the game 6 victory in Minute Maid Park.
