If you’re anything like me, you could eat Asian food for every meal. Growing up in east Bay Area, specifically Fremont, I was fortunate enough to be exposed to a plethora of Asian foods and overtime created a list of the MUST TRY Asian restaurants in this area. Note: And yes, ALL of these restaurants are in Fremont, CA — not surrounding cities. Enjoy!
Starting with the best of the best: Sala Thai. Sala Thai is hands down my favorite Asian restaurant in Fremont. If I ever have friends visiting from out of town and they’re trying to eat GOOD, this is where I take them. My favorite dish here (and the dish they are most known for) is their Sweet Garlic Crispy Fish -- which is this deep fried fish topped with a delicious soy garlic sauce. It is actually so heavenly! I will typically order a Panang Curry or some sort of noodle stir fry like Pad-see-ew or Pad thai to accompany the fish but honestly everything here is delicious and good quality. PSA: They have a second location in Fremont called Sala Thai 2 but I personally prefer their original location (Sala Thai).
- Location: 3241 Walnut Ave, Fremont, CA 94538
- Pro: Crispy fish is delicious, quality ingredients
- Con: Pretty pricey with dishes ranging from $12 - $16, small portions at times

If you love Korean fried chicken this is the spot for YOU. Vons has about 10 different kinds of fried and oven-baked Korean chicken. My personal favorites are the Crispy Fried Chicken with the Garlic Soy Glaze and the Honey Butter Chicken. They also offer a few side dishes like kimchi fried rice, rice cake, and fries but I do wish their side menu was a bit more extensive. From my experience, Vons was more of a to-go place over a sit-down restaurant as their inside is relatively small and simple. However, I have gotten their chicken to-go plenty of times and it's been consistently crunchy and delicious!
- Location: 5010 Mowry Ave, Fremont, CA 94538
- Pro: Lots of mild and spicy chicken options
- Con: Limited sides menu, Service is a bit slow

My go-to spot for sushi in Fremont is easily Satomi Sushi. Affordable prices, great service, and good quality. Need I say more? Satomi to me, is just the reliable sushi place that everyone needs to have in their city. I always get their Agedashi tofu for an appetizer and Dragon roll as the main course. Their interior is a good size and could easily fit a big party or an intimate group. I also love how they give out complimentary orange slices and whipped cream after each dine-in experience — very cute and memorable touch. PSA: They have a second location in Fremont called Satomi Sushi 2 but I personally prefer their original location (Satomi Sushi).
- Location: 3655 Thornton Ave, Fremont, CA 94536
- Pro: Vast menu with very fair pricing for sushi
- Con: Parking spots are tight

If you love 1. Thai food and 2. Crepes you will love Le Moose Crepe Cafe. This restaurant is a unique fusion of Asian flavors with crepe/pasta. Portions here are extremely generous while being packed with flavor. For an individual dish, I would recommend their California crepe for a more traditional American flavor and their Thai Green Curry crepe for an Asian fusion crepe. To share, I really enjoyed their Appetizer Sampler that includes a combination of sweet potato fries, curry puffs, spring rolls, and fried calamari. WARNING: The spice here is NO JOKE. I would get mild or ask them to reduce the spice level if you cannot handle spice.
- Location: 5014 Mowry Ave, Fremont, CA 94538
- Pro: Extremely unique flavors of Thai & American, big portions
- Con: Small inside so wait-time can be long

Toro Sushi Stone Bar and Grill is the best of both worlds. They offer sushi AND Korean BBQ (not all you can eat) for those days when you just can’t decide which to choose from. The ambiance here is pretty bougie and reminds me of a VIP night club. They have a huge interior with glass floors, purple lighting, and a decently sized bar area! Naturally, the prices here match the environment and are on the higher end with sushi being around $15/roll and the meat starting anywhere from $20-$50. My personal favorite dishes here are the M16 Aircraft roll and the Wagyu Clay Rice Pot. Super delicious!
- Location: 43785 Boscell Rd, Fremont, CA 94538
- Pro: Beautiful and spacious interior! Vast menu without being overwhelming
- Con: On the pricier end

Fremont has a very limited selection of authentic Korean food places (with tofu soup) and Gangnam Tofu House is one of the only spots in North Fremont. The shop itself is quite small and is your typical mom and pop shop (limited seating and Korean aunties as servers) but that’s how you KNOW the food is authentic and good. My go-to is the BBQ Rib (Gal-Bi) with tofu soup or the Beef Rib Soup — perfect comfort food! Additionally, they do provide side dishes if you order an entree which consists of fried fish, bean sprouts, kimchi, pickled cucumbers, and fish cake. Prices here are pretty comparable to your typical Korean restaurant with dishes ranging from $15-$23.
- Location: 3619 Thornton Ave, Fremont, CA 94536
- Pro: Sweet service
- Con: Very small interior, long wait times on busy nights

While Fremont does not have as many Asian food options as somewhere like Los Angeles or even San Jose, there are still many hidden gems that I will continue to return to. If you end up trying any of these restaurants, I would love to know your thoughts in the comments section here or you could DM me on my food instagram @claudiaishungry. Thank you for reading and happy eating!
