Last month Baker Creek Seeds arranged to donate profits from their seed sales to an agency sending aid to Ukrainians displaced by the attacks from Russia.
This month another company, Botanical Interests, is making a similar offer.
Now through the end of March, Botanical Interests will be donating 100% of proceeds from all online sunflower seed sales to Sunflower of Peace. Sunflowers are the national flower of Ukraine and have become a powerful symbol of the resiliency of the Ukrainian people in the face of the illegitimate war that is being waged against them by Putin.
Sunflower of Peace is dedicated to providing resources to those affected by the crisis in Ukraine and Eastern Europe. This Boston-based non-profit organization is working to acquire life-saving medical supplies, including first-aid backpacks, medicine, bandages, and other non-perishable resources to be distributed to those in need.
Botanical Interests, which is based in Broomfield, Colorado, is one of my favorite seed companies and is known for its high-quality seeds.
Sunflowers are a great addition to any garden as they not only brighten the landscape, but they also attract many pollinators into your garden, make great cut flowers, and certain varieties will provide piles of sunflower seeds to harvest for snacking. Botanical Interests offers seeds for more than a dozen varieties of sunflowers in a range of shades from pale yellow to golden to mahogany red and in sizes from 2 feet to 12 feet tall.
Be sure to get your order in by March 31, 2022 to take advantage of this humanitarian offer.
