The Main Streets in small town Missouri that do it up right during the holidays

If you live in Kansas City, who doesn't love the quaint nature of Parkville? Walk up and down Main Street and window shop or stop inside to check out any artistic creation. This community begins celebrating with Santa and his house today through December 23 (donations accepted). Visit here for times. We've been going for years.

Also, Christmas on the River is scheduled for December 1, 2023, and it's free admission. There's even a fireworks show that starts at 8:45 p.m. Visit here for more information.

Hermann, Missouri also has a Holiday House Tour event planned from noon to 6:00 p.m. on December 2, 2023. Visit here to purchase tickets, which benefit the Gasconade County Historical Society Archives & Records Building expansion project. If you're a ticketholder, you're also entitled to some specials on your visit.

On December 3-4, you can visit a traditional German Market at the Stone Hill Winery. The admission is free. And if you're looking for some Santa fun, on December 10, the Hermann Trolley is running a Santa Costume contest. All you have to do is dress up as Santa. There will be giveaways and contests throughout Hermann for the best costume.

The Historic Candlelight Homes Tour has been going on in Weston, Missouri for over 40 years. This year, it falls on December 2 and 3, 2023. Tickets are $25. The shops will be ready and Father Christmas will be walking around with carolers.

There are also walking tours scheduled for December 10, 16, 17, 23, 24, 30, and 31. Visit here for the event listing and respective costs. The Weston Historic District was listed as a National Historic District in 1972. Weston is a small town with many stories.

St. Charles

From now through December 24 on Fridays (6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.), Saturdays (noon to 8:30 p.m.), Sundays (noon to 5:00 p.m.) and Christmas Eve (11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.), you're in for a real treat by the Saint Charles Christmas Traditions®. On Wednesdays, you can experience "A Christmas Carol" Stroll (6:00 p.m.-8:30 p.m.).

Visit Santa's cottage at the historic KATY Depot in Frontier Park. Also, new for this year, listen to the Saint Charles Christmas Traditions® carolers at 2:30 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays at the Grand Staircase of the Old Post Office located at 119 South Main.
