Not every taco restaurant makes a taco to remember. On this venue's Facebook page, it has a 4.3 out of 5 rating from 1,438 reviews which isn't bad at all. In fact, that's pretty good.
The Kansas City Taco Company (KC Taco) is popular and busy. Opening in 2019, this joint refers to itself as a non-traditional urban taqueria. Even the sauce to accompany chips isn't ordinary. It's already expanded three times.
This restaurant caters and while it does not take reservations, you're invited to call in case they can accommodate you. You can try, but don't expect it. Otherwise, try to arrive early. If you arrive at dinner time, expect a busy place.
KC Taco celebrates Taco Tuesday and Aloha Fridays. Some of the names of their tacos are inviting like the Chorizo and Avocado Tacos (house-made chorizo topped with fresh avocado and mild sriracha aioli and a side of pico), or the Suadero Tacos (brisket (Mexico style) slow roasted in authentic herbs and our house made sofrito with white onion and sour cream on top).
KC Taco is located at 520 Walnut Street in Kansas City, Missouri in the River Market area. Hours are 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. on Mondays through Thursdays, and 11:00 a.m. to 10:00 pm. on Fridays and Saturdays. It's closed Sunday. Gotta have a day to rest after a busy week, right?
Pictured above is the Cowboy Junky. It consists of mesquite pork and chorizo thats rolled in a flour tortilla and then deep fried. It's served on a bed of rice. That's not all. It's topped with the restaurant's queso, spice bacon pinto beans, and pico. It looks like a piece of heaven.
Entrepreneur, Arthur Leduc, is the owner and chef of KC Taco. He's a native of Newport, Rhode Island, and has lived in other states including California and Hawaii. Leduc has been to Kansas City before because it's where his wife is from. Lucky for us Kansas Citians that he opened his restaurant here.
Leduc indicated in a past interview that he thought the best Mexican tacos in Kansas City were on Southwest Boulevard. No argument there. That said, however, Leduc brings something different to the table that blends in other fresh ingredients from the places he has lived. He's redefining flavorful with his creative meals. I'm all for Aloha Fridays since I lived in Hawaii too.
KC Taco has a liquor license to provide a potential favorite beverage to go with your meal. Apparently, Guy Fieri likes KC Taco too. Happy dining.
