The North Carolina man who murdered his pregnant girlfriend told police she was trying to poison him, with the police force's help, and that's why he shot her. Willie Earl Moore, 27, shot Tanajwa McMurray, 31, 5-months pregnant at the time of her death on October 11.

McMurray's 10-year-old daughter was in the home at the time of the shooting. According to Crime Online, the victim's mother said Moore falsely claimed her daughter tried to poison him to set up his self defense or insanity plea.

The audio of Moore's 911 calls claims the gang, Gangster Disciples, was using his girlfriend to poison him. He added Tanajwa had "set him up for murder."

“She grabbed her gun, pointed it at me and I shot her,” Moore said on the 911 call. “It’s on video that we were arguing. I told her that I was gonna kill her.” He added: “Hurry up. Send an ambulance. I really shot her, though.”

If that sound unrealistic, he later claimed the police were working with the gang to kill him too. "They gonna give you the evidence. They got police with them, too. They [SIC] got law enforcement on their side," Moore told the dispatcher.

The victim's mother, Tasha McMurray, doesn’t buy Moore's story. She said she never got a call from Moore that night, which he claimed he phoned her, and her daughter didn't own a firearm.

"She was carrying his baby, and that didn't stop him from killing her. So now, the rest of my life, it's never going to be the same," she said. "My granddaughter has to grow up without a mother. I'm going to be in that courthouse every day during those court proceedings and he's going to have to look at me. If he won't look at me, he's going to feel my eyes on the back of his head. He cannot get away with this."

Moore told the dispatcher there was a 10-girl-old in the house. Before first responders arrived on the scene, he fled in the victim's car. The young girl told law enforcement, she came out of her room after the gunshot, and he told her if she didn't go back to her room, he'd "kill her too."

On October 17, Moore surrendered to the police. Authorities revoked his parole on a 2015 conviction. According to The Observer, Moore served just shy of five years of an 11 year sentence for robbery with a dangerous weapon, kidnapping, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a controlled substance with the intent to sell. He is currently in prison to serve out his sentence.

Now, he is facing multiple charges, including murder, murder of an unborn, possession of a firearm by a felon, and possession of a stolen vehicle. The family of the victim started a GoFundMe page to help with funeral expenses and to care for her daughter.
