Colorado Springs police claim a man, Christof Kreb, killed his wife and two of his children before committing suicide over the weekend. The report from El Paso County Sheriff's office states the 55-year-old murdered his wife, Yvette Siegert-Kreb (50), his daughter, Felicity Kreb (13), and his son Barrett Kreb (9).
When the police entered the Kreb home, they found all four members of the household dead. Law enforcement has not released the motivation for the murders. They are still investigating the crime, so more details should come to light in the coming days.
According to People, Kreb was a part owner at a local gun shop in Colorado. He and his wife were army veterans, and she was a retired NICU nurse. The couple had eight children, five of the eight were adopted. Felicity was adopted from China and Barrett from Albania.
The couple's oldest daughter, Morgan, stated she and her brother, Tristan, are taking care of their siblings. They are having trouble wrapping their minds around the tragedy. She did not know her father planned to take the lives of her mother and siblings.
“We could never of predicted this would happen. We are all..so shocked,” Morgan said.
A family friend couldn't believe this happened to the Kreb family. She cried as she said Yvette was an advocate for those mistreated and unprivileged, Denver Post reported.
The family started a GoFundMe account to benefit the children. At the time of this writing, the account raised nearly $35k. If you want to donate to the family, the link is here.
"We are fundraising to help the Kreb children after the terrible tragedy on October 30th. We are asking for prayers and donations to help the family. Thank you for all the love and support, it is greatly appreciated," Steve Smith wrote on the GoFundMe page.
Reading through the comments section of the GoFundMe page, you see immediately how inspiring Yvette was, and how shocked her friends and family are by the tragic murders. The neighbors of the family are in disbelief. They never thought something like this would happen in their community. Police said they should have more information on the cause of death and motivation in the coming days.
