Back when neighbors and friends could gather together with reckless abandon - remeber that? - we were able to congregate in the summer sun and have a festive taste from 30 of the best local microbreweries during the annual PNA Summer Beer Taste. In the parking lot outside of the Phinney Center, hundreds of attendees chatted with brewers, friends, and fellow enthusiasts at this laid-back themed event that always sold out. This beer taste gained the reputation as a favorite among brewers and tasters alike.

At more than 30 years old, the PNA Winter Beer Taste is one of the oldest tastes in all of beer-crazed Seattle, filling the cozy historic schoolhouse. The Summer Taste compliments it with a sunny afternoon of refreshing ales. The best part? All proceeds go to PNA’s programs for seniors, kids, people in need, and the entire community.

The 15th iteration of this much-anticipated event was canceled in 2020 due to the pandemic. As we’re not quite back to normal times, the PNA has decided that there will also not be an in-person Summer Beer Taste in 2021. For now, we will have to be content with the PNA Beer Taste Passport to scratch the beer-tasting itch.. Purchase a PNA Beer Passport for $10, go to the participating breweries during July and August, and have a pint. Breweries will stamp your passport and donate $1 to the PNA for each beer purchased.

Fill up your passport, return to the PNA (mail, email, or in-person), and be entered in a drawing for a ticket to the 34th Annual PNA Winter Beer Taste, next summer’s PNA Summer Beer Taste, or a gift certificate to the 74th Street Ale House. The 2021 Winter Beer Taste will be this November 13, and format will depend on COVID-19 protocol.

Everyone who completes their passport will get an extra drink ticket to the next in-person PNA Beer Taste.
