Chris and Scott’s Colorado Adventures

we were able to visit Casa Bonita as part of their invitation only soft reopening.  Casa Bonita was legendary in Colorado for their cliff divers, sopaipillas, and bad food.  A place where any one who has lived in Colorado has had to visit at least once.  South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker recently purchased the icon restaurant and "rebuilt" everything from the building, to the staff and most importantly the food.  We had a great time  revisiting and even if the food isn't perfect, it's so much better than it was before.

It's warming up outside so we headed to Downtown Denver to check out the Yard Milkshake Bar located on the 16th Street Mall at California, right next to the Target.  This Milkshake bar has so many varieties of ice cream and shake flavors.  All of the shakes are over-the-top fun with added brownies, cereal bars, cookies, pop-tarts, sprinkles, whipped cream..almost anything you could imagine.  Your shake comes in a glass mason jar that. you get to keep, and they even have a place for you to wash it out in.  If you aren't looking for a shake in a jar, they also have bowls, edible cookies batter and the old school cone.

Castle Rock, CO

we headed to Castle Rock to check out Scileppi's at the Old Stone Church.  The church itself, has been around since 1888 and starting in 1975 it became many different restaurants over the years.  For the last 5 years it has been Scileppi's and it did not disappoint.  We'd never had a chance to visit the Old Stone Church over the years and this was a great way to check it out!  The drinks were great, the food was yummy and the red sauce was tasty.  Not to acidic, not watery and not too chunky, definitely a homemade recipe!

Greenwood Village, CO

We stopped by Greenwood Village to check out "Younutz!  Donuts and Ice Cream". This is the first location of this brand and from what we saw, it must have a reputation!  We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and it was packed!  Lots of fun and different options and we recommend getting the smash donut.  a donut, ice cream and frosted drizzle...yum!  Lots of different flavors as well!

We Visited the First Yonutz! Location in Colorado!

Evergreen, CO

Back with another Dining Adventure and we headed up to Evergreen to check out one of the Kalaka Mexican Kitchen locations (the other being in Denver off Tennyson).  There's lots of fun atmosphere in this "small-ish" Mexican Restaurant, but it is a bit loud.  They have lots of different options, but are known for their Trashcan nachos, which we tried and enjoyed.  We also tried the margarita flight, chilie relleno and street tacos.
Everything felt like it was made fresh and and  was delicious!

Estes Park, CO

We headed up to Estes Park to check out the Annual "Frozen Dead Guy Days" Event.  This was the first year the event was held in Estes Park after being in the Town of Nederland for over 20 years.  This was our first time attending and we had a great time!  The Coffin Races are a must see and we feel the reason to attend.  There were a few things that could have been better, more signs and volunteers to answer questions, but all in all it's a fun event.  There were 3 stages with bands all day, a Hearse Car Show and lots of food trucks.  It was outside and mighty chilly, but we definitely recommend this homegrown CO Event!

We Attended Frozen Dead Guy Days in Estes Park!

For this week's Tik iThursday drink, were making the "Lei Lani Volcano 2.0.  Based on the origianl drink from Walt Disney World, this is a fruity yet not very tart drink.  Besides Rum, this includes Pineapple juice, Lime juice, Guava soda and Coconut Cream.  Easy to make and very refreshing!   This will cool you down on warm day!

Tiki Thursday: Lei Lani Volcano 2.0

For this video, we're checking out the new "Most Oreo Oreo" and our specially ordered "Logo Oreo".  The "Most Oreo Oreo" is mighty tasty and has so much creme filling that it's almost a "Mega Stuff".  Really Yummy!
The Specialty "Logo Oreo" is a Fudge Covered cookie with sprinkles and we added our Channel Logo on at Oreo.com.  It's a tasty cookie, but we were disappointed in the taste of the image placed on the cookie....very "papery" tasting.
If you can find the "Most Oreo Oreo" in your area, we absolutely recommend picking them up!

Welcome back to "Tiki Thursdays"!  Every Thursday we will spotlight a different tiki drink/cocktail from the Smuggler's Cove: Exotic Cocktails, Rum and the Cult of Tiki" book by Martin Cate with Rebecca Cate.  This week's cocktail is the Daiquiri No. 1. This is a simple cocktail made with rum, lime and Demerara syrup, double strained and served in a chilled glass.  We were split on this one, as Chris enjoyed it, while Scott thought it might be a bit too strong.

Tiki Thursdays:  Barbados Rum Punch

Longmont, CO

It's Tiki Thursday and today we head back to the tropics to check out Longmont's "Swaylo's Restaurant and Tiki Bar"!  It doesn't matter that it's 15 degrees and snowing out, cause in here, it's always warm and tropical!  This was our first time at Swaylo's and it didn't disappoint!  It's big, warm and inviting, we sat in the Bar area (inside the ship), surrounded by a nautical atmosphere and so many tiki mugs!  
The drinks were fun and delicious and the appetizers, lunch dish and dessert were delicious as well!  We do love our Tiki Bars and are happy to revisit Swaylo's again next time we're up North!

We stopped by out local International House of Pancakes to check out this year's Seasonal Menu!  Gingersnap is the main theme for this year's dishes and they're a a couple fun flavors.  Gingersnap Milkshake, Gingersnap Hot Chocolate, and Gingersnap Apple French Toast are just a few of the flavors you'll be greeted with!

Tis the Season for a Holiday Menu at IHOP!

Aurora, CO

We headed back to the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center in Aurora to check out this year's new ICE! Exhibit.  The Gaylord Rockies is now all decked out for the Holidays!  Besides the HUGE Christmas Tree, Festive Lights and Holiday Decor, they also have lots of fun Holiday activities for the family. This year's ICE! Exhibit is the classic Charlie Brown Christmas Animated Special story told in amazing Ice Sculptures.... this is a definite must see for the Family! There's  a "Cirque Dreams Holiday" show, Mistletoe Village for shopping, gingerbread house making and meeting Santa.
*We had a bit of audio issues at the beginning and end of the video, but have worked to minimize it and hopefully it doesn't detract too much!  


The Return of ICE! at the Gaylord Rockies Resort and Convention Center

Littleton, CO

We returned to "Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns" at Hudson Gardens.  We really enjoyed our visit last year and were invited out this year by Hudson Gardens.  The event is very similar to last year's event with 7000 real carved pumpkins made into fun displays. The set up is a bit different and there seemed to be some new additions as well as the displays from previous years.   There's also food trucks and beverage stations along the display path.
It's a great family event that allows you to walk at your own pace.  If you haven't had a chance to check out this fun different Halloween event, we recommend it!

Magic of the Jack O'Lanterns at Hudson Gardens 2022!!

Spooky Season continues for us as we visited Elitch Garden's "Fright Fest"!  We first visited this scary haunted event in 2019, so this year we decided to return to find out if the chills remain!!
Sadly, this year didn't live up to our last experience, although we really enjoyed the new "Lock Up: No Escape House.  The "Terrortories" needed a few more scare actors to make them more enjoyable and Big Top Freaks was just ok this time, although there we extenuating circumstances that may have clouded our judgment.
If you're looking to not only visit some haunted house, but also ride amusement rides, then this event is for you!  Please be aware there is an additional charge for the houses o n top of your admission to the park..


Chainsaws, Crazy Inmates and Scary Clowns at Elitch Garden's Fright Fest!!

It's Spooky Season again!!   To kick it off, we returned to Reinke Brothers, one of our favorite stores and Haunted Houses in Colorado!  This legendary store in the heart of downtown Littleton is a must for anyone who loves Halloween, costumes, and a really fun "Haunted House". The 33 room Haunt is one of our faves, not only is it scary, but it's also really fun.  So many things to look at and experience!  The same can be said of the store!  The House is only open through Halloween, but the store is open all year long and is well worth a visit.  They've got costumes, animatronics, decorations, and so many fun things to look at. Make sure to check them out!!

Reinke Brothers' Haunted Mansion...Our First Haunt of the Season!!

Glenwood Springs, CO

For this Adventure, we ran up to Glenwood Springs to check out Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park.  We'd been here about 10 years ago, but we wanted to return to check out the new rides.  We might have chickened out on a couple of the rides, but Scott decided he had to try the new Defiance Rollercoaster and oh man it was definitely something to behold!
We also had lunch and and checked out the Alpine Coaster.  We had a great time and theTeam Members couldn't have been nicer!  Glenwood Springs is about a 3 hour drive from Denver, but well worth your time!

America's Only Mountain-Top Theme Park in Glenwood Springs!!

This week, we headed back to Applebee's to check out their new "Seaside Sips", both made with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's Teremana Blanco Tequila.  Both are on ice, no blended drink this time, but are light, sweet and very summery.  Much better than the Saintly Sips from March.  We also talk about what we have been doing for the past 5 months and why our video output has slowed down.

Trying Applebee's New $5 Mucho Seaside Sips and Some Info on What We Have Been Doing Lately

We headed to the Wash Park Neighborhood to check out "Fire on the Mountain".  This casual dining restaurant and bar on the corner of Alameda and Logan offers a large menu that includes burgers, sandwiches, wings with house made sauces, and a large bar with many local beer selections.  We had a wrap and boneless wings that were mighty tasty!  The house made Sweet and spicy Orange sauce was delicious!
They have 2 locations in Denver:  Wash Park and the Highlands Neighborhood.

Larkspur, CO

We headed south to Larkspur to check out the brand new "Jellystone Park at Larkspur". Located just South of Castle Rock in Larkspur, this is a great place to getaway without going too far out of town. This is a RV Park that also has cabins and spaces for tents as well.  There are also lots of fun amenities such as 2 swimming pools, a water park, fire pits, miniature golf, a kid's park,  geocaching, a movie theatre and miniature bowling.  Construction continues as more spaces are being prepared and there are some amenities that aren't open, but even so, this is very clean and impressive Park!
