I want to get one thing very clear. I am a meat-eater. I love to enjoy a good steak or a juicy hamburger. I was sent on behalf of Yelp to check out a Vegetarian/Vegan Restaurant called Manna Kitchen in Lisle.
I was extremely reluctant that I would enjoy anything at Manna Kitchen. I have had Vegan/Vegetarian food before and it was always pretending to be something else and lacking on every level.
I walked into Manna Kitchen around lunchtime. I was immediately greeted with an extremely friendly hello and a smile from the worker behind the counter.
I explained I was there on behalf of Yelp and needed some help choosing what to eat. I was told one of their most popular burgers was one called the “Tower Burger”. It consisted of a fermented veggie patty topped with crispy fried onions, homemade organic melted mozzarella, BBQ sauce, pickles, lettuce, and chipotle mayo served with a side of fries. I was given a number and told that my food would be brought out to me.
The restaurant is split up into two rooms with very ample seating. I chose to sit in the side room to give myself some space to take pictures and whatnot.
I waited only a few minutes for my food to come out. The burger looked fantastic visually. It looked almost like a chicken parmesan sandwich and the side of the fries was perfectly cooked golden and crispy.
I took my first bite of the “Tower Burger” and I was blown away. The flavors that this sandwich had was amazing. There was a sweetness in one of the sauces that almost had a tomato flavor and the melted mozzarella was melted perfectly. The patty did not have any of the signature grittiness that most vegan patties have. I really cannot emphasize enough how delicious this sandwich was.
I was sitting in complete amazement at this burger thinking if I really had to go Vegetarian and the food tasted like this, I would be more than happy to go meat-free.
I was then greeted by one of the managing partners named Markus. He stopped by to say hello and asked how everything was. I told him I was blown away at how good this sandwich was. Markus then told me that Manna Kitchen does not make food for the sake of being Vegetarian. He said they make it so that it is delicious for anyone, not just Vegans/Vegetarians.
I talked for a while with Markus and he also told me I had to try one of their Vegetarian hot dogs. I was very doubtful it would be good.
Markus then brings over my hot dog. Again, visually it looks just like a Chicago-style hotdog. I took a bite and I could not believe that it tasted like a really good Vienna-style Chicago hot dog.
I cannot tell you this with enough enthusiasm! Go check this place out even if just to mix up your diet to try something new. You will not be disappointed.
I give Manna Kitchen a rating of 9 out of 10 for customer service, food preparation, and taste.
I love this place so much that I am going to work with them on a promotion for my NewsBreak readers, lasting one-month and good until May 19th.
All you have to do is stop in anytime and tell them Chicago Food King sent you and get 5% off your entire meal.
I am in no way being paid to run this promotio.
