1. Enjoy the weather at some of our amazing beaches

Namely: La Jolla, Sunset Cliffs, Mission Beach, and of course, Ocean Beach. You can also visit Coronado! If you're visiting Ocean Beach during the summer, you'll find many things to do. Exploring Rock & Roll history with a tour through Old Town San Diego and getting your scuba diving certification with SD Tours is just some of what's available.

2. Hiking

If you love outdoor activities, then San Diego offers plenty of hiking and biking trails. You can even go hiking up Mt. Woodson, also known as Potato Chip Rock. It is a 6.4-mile hike that is difficult with an incline. But you’ll forget all about that once you get to the top and see the spectacular view.

3. Surfing

You can go scuba diving with a guided tour of the kelp forests and see sea lions, seals, dolphins, and even whales passing by on a scuba dive safari. You can also surf at Torrey Pines State Beach with an experienced guide from the SD Surf School.

4. Kayaking

A fun thing to do in the summer is to go kayaking on Mission Bay. You can rent a kayak or take a guided tour from the San Diego Kayak Company. You can also give stand-up paddleboarding a try at Mission Bay, Pacific Beach, or Coronado for some great photos of the city skyline.

5. Enjoy a day at the tracks

And if you are looking for a unique activity that is less active, then check out a historic car or motorbike race on one of the many local tracks. There have been many motorbike races over the years with seven tracks around San Diego, and each has its own legend.

6. July 4th celebrations

Don't forget to check out the celebrations on July 4th. Watch the fireworks at these locations:

  • San Diego Big Day Boom at San Diego bay starting at 9 p.m.
  • Coronado: Coronado July 4th Celebrations at Spreckels Park starting at 9 p.m.
  • Del Mar: San Diego Country Fair at Del Mar Fairgroundsstarting at 9 p.m.
  • Ocean Beach: Fourth of July at Ocean Beach Pier starting at 9 p.m.

7. Drive-in movies

There are two drive-in movie theaters in San Diego, Santee, and South Bay drive-in theatres. By far, one of the most popular attractions at South Bay drive-in theater is the double feature, perfect for that make-out session!
