The mysterious illness continues

NBC News is reporting that the mysterious canine illness continues to affect dogs throughout the nation but no one knows why. Veterinarians are studying the situation but still do not have conclusive answers. Some animals have died from the respiratory illness while others have recovered. Some of them had a pathogen while others did not.

Earlier reports said there had been no cases of the dog illness in the Commonwealth but WTVR reported on November 23, that a Chesterfield County, Virginia woman says she believes her dog died from the mystery illness.

The one thing Vets are agreeing on is that pet owners need to know their dogs and the habits they display. Coughing, sneezing, and a runny nose are symptoms but do not necessarily indicate a dog has the virus. Pet owners should watch their animals closely, make sure their shots are up to date, and keep them from kennels and other places where they might become infected.
