Virginia has yet another number 1 Christmas film

At least 3 polls including one from BET Virginia have concluded that the favorite holiday film in Virginia is Home Alone. Survey results regarding Christmas films may vary because the same Virginians do not participate in each poll.

This may be the reason The Virginian Pilot says a different movie It's A Wonderful Life is the chart-topper in the state. The film also inspired the It's A Wonderful Run 5K race that will take place on Saturday, December 9 at 4:40 p.m. in Seneca Falls, New York.

The 5K run honors the popular holiday classic

This 5K run is unique because it takes place after dark and celebrates the town's perceived connection to the movie. It's a Wonderful Life was set in the fictitious town of Bedford Falls which some believe is modeled after Seneca Falls, New York. The town also has a museum dedicated to the holiday classic

While the fictional town's name combines those of Bedford Hills in New York's Westchester County and Seneca Falls in New York's Finger Lakes region, the latter claims to be the real deal. Seneca Falls even has a website, called, which is dedicated to pointing out all of the similarities between the two towns.

Was Seneca Falls the model for Bedford Falls and is It's a Wonderful Life Virginia's favorite Christmas movie? It all depends on who you ask. There are many ways Virginians can enjoy this favorite movie in 2023. Click on the link to find out what's available to you.
