The analysis brings troubling news

Roanoke, residents have questioned the expense of the Roanoke City Gun Violence Task Force because the shootings have not been deterred. The Roanoke Rambler is now reporting that $95,000 was spent to analyze the police department and this expenditure had results.

Unlike other localities, Roanoke did not bounce back from Covid-related staff shortages and now the RCPD needs employees. RR reports that there are many vacancies, internal discord, and charges of discrimination. Deputy Chief Chester Smith and Deputy Chief Eric Charles both recently retired but it's not known what role they have in the lawsuit.

The analysis came after lawsuits were filed and employees left their jobs. Some former RCPD workers claimed the environment was "toxic" and trust issues seem to be a big problem. The question on the minds of Roanoek residents is how all of this will affect the service the community gets from RCPD in the midst of all the problems.
