Taco Bell lease customers perplexed
The decisions made by the powers that be at Taco Bell do not always make sense to customers. They are introducing two new menu items that may or may not be popular while allowing a favorite food to show up only every now and again. The restaurant chain will soon offer Toasted Breakfast Tacos and a Steak and Bacon Grilled Cheese Burrito but where are the Nacho Fries?
Taco Bell's fries smothered in nacho cheese were an instant hit from the time they were introduced in 2018. As of April 2023, Nacho Fries have been introduced and removed 15 times. According to Mental Floss the fries outsold the popular Doritos Locos Taco.
It seems the Taco chain likes to build anticipation so that the next time they put the Nacho Fries back on the menu there will be a surge of customers to buy them. The thinking is that patrons will rush to purchase as many as they can because they don't know when the menu item will return. Outside the US the Nacho Fries come with different toppings which sounds exciting.
Nacho Fries are rumored to become permanent in the future
When they are not on the menu customers are asking when the Nacho Fries will be back. The employees never know but this increases momentum. When riding with me my 3 grandchildren and one of their friends often inquire of various Southwest Virginia Taco Bell locations as to when the Nacho Fries would return. Sometimes I would do the asking without a clue that we were playing into their marketing scheme.
There are 218 TB locations in the Commonwealth and we have probably been to at least 15. CNBC says the launch of the Nacho Fries was the biggest in Taco Bell history so why not stop toying with loyal customers and just keep the fries on the menu year-round? According to Reddit, this may become a reality in December 2024 so be on the lookout for updates.
