The Oscar Meyer Weinermobile is back in action
In May, the news broke that the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile would officially become the Frankmobile. This was to celebrate the 100% all-beef hotdog but customers were not having it. There is an old saying that if something is not broken you don't fix it and fans of the original name complained that the hotdog mascot did not need fixing.
Many customers said the name change was ridiculous and it seems the powers that be decided to listen. It was announced on Wednesday that Oscar Mayer was changing the name from Frankmobile back to Weinermobile.
The original name rides again
Over the years the Oscar Mayer Weinermobile has traveled across the nation including various locations in Virginia. Last July, 2022 the Weinermobile made a stop in the Star City. This brought back memories of when my daughter was a little girl and she won a raffle at Kroger in Roanoke County. Her prize was a Weinermobile just the right size for her to ride in.
During the past 4 months, the vehicle has traveled the county with the name Frankmobile but from now on it will have it's original monicker. The first Oscar Mayer Weinermobile debuted in 1936, and it has gone through several changes since that time. Those who drive the vehicle are known as Hotdoggers so be on the lookout for their arrival in your neck of the woods.
