Father's Day in the Roanoke Valley

There is an old saying that simple pleasures are the best and another old adage is "It's the thought that counts." Keeping this in mind there are a number of fun places in the Roanoke Valley that are available every spring and summer but you can make them your special Father's Day destination on Saturday, June 17, and or Sunday, June 18. If you have run out of ideas please consider the following 5 for the father or father figure in your life. Click on each link to find hours and prices.

Cool off at Splash Valley Water Park

Consider getting away from the heat at Splash Valley Water Park on Saturday or Sunday. If you live in Roanoke County you will receive a discount on the entrance fee.

Smith Mountain Lake State Park

Smith Mountain Lake offers swimming, fishing, boating, and other activities that can be enjoyed on Father's Day weekend. So take dad, grandfather, stepdad, uncle, brother or whoever your father figure is.

Fairystone Park

How about a picnic at Fairy Stone Park where you can swim and look around for the fairy stones? You can also enjoy walking through the trails.

Mountain Lake Lodge

Spend Father's Day weekend at Mountain Lake Lodge where the movie Dirty Dancing was filmed and there are many different activities to keep you busy.

Visit a house of worship

If your father or father figure is a man of faith then consider going with him to his house of worship on Father's Day or invite him to your own.
