Who is Rashid Ali Bynum?
Rashid Ali Bynum from Virginia is accused of driving to New Jersey, and shooting Republican councilwoman Eunice Dumfour multiple times in the parking lot outside her condo. The public is wondering who Bynum is and what was his connection to the New Jersey Councilwoman. The suspect was traced back to Virginia and is facing extradition to New Jersey at the end of June. No motive has been given but additional details related to 29-year-old Rashid are coming forth and here is what is known at this point.
Dwumfour's husband Peter Akwue, also known as Eze Kings is a pastor in the same church but is based in Africa. He told Fox News Digital that he did not know Bynum who along with members of his family was a member of a Virginia church where Dwumfour was the pastor from 2016-2018. An associate of the New Jersey Councilwoman Christian Onuoha produced 2 pictures from the summer of 2018 where Dwumfour attended church events. "She was his pastor around 2018," he told Fox News Digital. "That was the last time any of us remember seeing him."
Possible motives
The question that only Bynum has the answer to is why he drove across states and murdered his former pastor. Could he have been in trouble and called on Dumfour for counseling or perhaps asked her for financial assistance? Perhaps he reacted violently when she could not provide what he needed. Those who have spoken on behalf of the New Jersey Congresswoman have said she was all about service and helping others. Could she have assisted Bynum in the past but this time things went horribly wrong?
Rashid Ali Bynum has a long record of crimes
Court records have revealed that Bynum has had legal troubles from the time he was a juvenile, including "allegations of fraud, forgery, and theft" that go back to 2013 when he would have been 19. He also faced firearms charges in 2015 in Virginia and again in 2019 in Maryland. Middlesex County Prosecutor Yolanda Ciccone revealed on Tuesday afternoon that with help from the local police and the FBI Bynum had been arrested at his Chesapeake City, Virginia, home.
Ciccone further revealed that Bynum left a trail leading back to him as his phone number was found saved in Dwumfour's phone. It had the letters FCF, an acronym for the Fire Congress Fellowship, which has an association with Dwumfour's church, The authorities then tracked Rashid Ali Bynum's cell phone and his rented Hyundai Elantra from Virginia to New Jersey and back to the Commonwealth around the timing of Eunice Dumfour's murder. The county prosecutor also had this to say"
"This was a very complex, extensive case with painstaking police work every single moment until today," "and it will continue after today."
