Tim Allen returns as Buzz Lightyear
Toy Story was an instant hit in Virginia in 1995 and local stores were filled with toys based on the film. My mother gave my youngest son every one of the characters for Christmas and I loved the green space alien who said " You have been chosen" when squeezed. The franchise was still going strong when my first grandchild was born and I was so proud to give him a Buzz Lightyear for his second birthday in 2007. Tim Allen has just confirmed that a Toy Story 5 is in the works and Virginia fans like those across the nation are happy to hear that Allen will reprise his role as Buzz.
Toy Story fans were troubled last year when Lightyear premiered and Allen was not the voice of the popular Space Ranger. To the children who grew up watching the films and the parents who enjoyed the animated Pixar movies right beside them Tim Allen is the one and only Buzz Lightyear. Some were wondering why the creators decided to replace Allen and why Chris Evans even put himself in the position of taking on the role and facing the blowback.
Virginia Toy Story fans speak out
Fans showed their disapproval as Lightyear was not a box-office success and in the midst any talks of Toy Story 5 were kept quiet. Allen says he is awaiting the script for the 5th installment of the beloved movie seriesand loyal fans of multiple generations will be awaiting more detail. Southwest Virginia fans I spoke with from Roanoke City, Roanoke County and Lynchburg had varied reactions to the situation.
Mike L. who is in his early 40s asked the question of what will be the plot with Andy grown up and Bonnie now a teenager. Ty T. 16 said he would gladly go to the movies to see Toy Story 5 and was happy the original Buzz would be in the film. Dre M is 12 and said he liked Lightyear (which bombed at the box-office ) but Buzz's voice sounded funny. He is excited about TS5 and the return of the original voice of the space ranger ranger. Lizz Jones a grandmother said she did not like that Lightyear tried to vear from what had been working and looks forward to watching the new film with her grandhildren.
