Lynchburg hosts Easter activities this weekend
This weekend there will be a community Easter Eggstravaganza taking place in Lynchburg Virginia and this brings to mind one of my favorite Spring/Easter movie scenes from the original Steel Magnolia starring Julia Roberts, Darryl Hannah, and Virginia native Shirley McClaine. Near the end of the film just after Robert's character Shelby dies there is a community Easter Egg hunt and children are running to and fro as the adults attempt to keep up with them. and During the egg hunt there is even someone dressed as the Easter Bunny.
Steel Magnolia's reminds me of the fun my friends and I had during Easter Egg hunts in my childhood The film usbased on a true story and when Hannah's character goes into labor the scene also emphasizes that life goes on after death as those who were mourning Shelby are now having fun with the children and anticipating the birth of a new baby.
The Easter Eggstravaganza is a family event that will take place Saturday, April 1 from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and is sponsored by the. Lynchburg Parks and Recreation Department. There will also be the annual Bunny Hop and many activities for children and adults. You can hop along the various trails for an Easter Egg Scavenger Hunt and you will see the Easter Bunny who will be visiting Lynchburg's Black Water Creek Trail, which is the most popular in the City and stretches for 3 miles. The Easter Bunny will be spreading Easter eggs around the area for all the visitors large and small.
