Teen idol Rob Lowe turns 57 on St. Patrick's Day

On March 17 as many Americans were celebrating St. Patrick's Day veteran actor Rob Lowe was turning 59. The versatile and seemingly ageless actor became a heartthrob in the 1980s with his performance as Soda Pop Curtis in The Outsiders in 1983 and portraying the love interest of Demi Moore in About Last Night in 1986. Lowe has an impressive resume which includes television, TV movies, and feature films and his career path began in Charlottesville Virginia.

Robert Hepler Lowe (born March 17, 1964)s an American actor, filmmaker, and podcast host. He made his acting debut at the age of 15 with ABCs short-lived sitcom A New Kind of Family (1979–1980). Rob Lowe's early years

According to Wikipedia Lowe's parents were Charles "Chuck" Davis Lowe a Charlottesville trial lawyer and Barbara Hepler Lowe, a teacher and his brother Chad Lowe is also an actor. He was baptized in the Episcopal church although he says he is not religious. Charles and Barbera divorced when their sons were young and Rob grew up in Dayton Ohio. His first acting job came at age 12 in 1976 when his family moved to Malaibu California. He portrayed an errand boy in a production of Sherlock Holmes at the Wright State University summer theater.

Rob Lowe in later years

Lowe gained fame in later years with roles In Austin Powers: The Spy who Shagged Me and Wayne's World. He is also a writer and director and a philanthropist who has helped to raise millions of dollars for women's causes including breast cancer. Actress Jen Lily who grew up in the Cave Spring area of Roanoke has returned to her hometown to assist with projects like raising money for back packs for homeless children.

Actor John Payne (Miracle on 34th Street 1934) who grew up in Roanoke and Salem returned for the dedication of the Mill Mountain Star.There is no record of Rob Lowe returning to or doing anything special for Charlottesville but that does not necessarily indicate that he has not.
