Two teens are missing from Franklin County

WDBJ 7 is reporting that two teenage girls who were last seen at Franklin County High School are missing and might be in Pulaski. The ages of the teens has not been revealed but their names are Mary Beth Trainer and Shyanne Fightmaster. Rocky Mount police say the two missing teens might be in the company of Melissa Trainer but have not indicated her age or if she is related to Mary Beth. Police are saying they consider the two as runaways

WSET reports the girls did not return home from Franklin County high school on Monday but gave no other information. In January a missing autistic teen was found safe but there has been no update about Allanah Myers who had run away in 2019 was reported missing on the first of March. If you have seen these missing teenagers please contact the authorities. Hopefully they will be found safe and return home.

There are more than 500 missing teens in Virginia

Unfortunately, there is a long list of missing teens in Virginia, and the National Missing persons data base estimates there are about 500. The center emphasizes that just because a child has not been identified as being abducted and is listed as a runaway does not indicate they are not in danger because they might end up involved with gangs. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children one in seven runaways ends up becoming the victim of human trafficking,

WDBJ 7 is reporting that the Virginia State Police has issued a Senior Alert on behalf of Fairfax County Police as part of the search for a missing man. Police are looking forUmaru Barrie, a 75-year-old African American male who is 5′ 5″ and 160 pounds with brown eyes and grey hair. Barrie suffers from a cognitive impairment that police say makes his disappearance pose a “credible threat to his health and safety.”

Nostalgia time: Do you remember the plastic screens that gave color to the old colorless television sets ?

This morning I had a flashback to the early 1960s when my grandmother transformed our black and white television into a color set by placing a screen over it. What I recall was what looked like tissue paper and the colors were muddled like in the image above. Southwest Virginia has several Hollywood success stories. Southwest Virginia is known for producing talented females who have found success in Hollywood. Lisa Aliff Greanleaf a graduate of Cave Spring High School was a runner-up in the 1981 Miss Virginia Pageant and won first place in the same contest in 1983. Pharmacy shortage continues to affect two CVS drug stores in Northwest Roanoke

There is a drug shortage right now that is at a 10-year high with 301 drugs that are short as of April of this year and staffing shortages continue in pharmacies when no licensed pharmacist is on hand in drug stores the pharmacy closes. This creates a backlog of customers when they reopen and sometimes tempers flare.
