the first time I've ever written a review less than 5 stars for a Bruce Moffett concept!

I really wanted to love this place. I can't even begin to tell you how excited I was for Optimist Hall to open, especially Bao and Broth. I've waited a few weeks to write this review because I thought maybe I just set my expectation level too high. Talking to friends and reading the other reviews, that's not the case.

My friend Andrea and I decided to split a Miso ramen (we added an egg to it), a belly bun, and a bulgogi bun. The ramen was okay (not the best, not the worst). The buns are $4.75 a piece. Granted, we screwed up. We should have done the 3 for $12 deal. But even with the deal, our buns were small and didn't have a lot in them. I think the price point is way too high.

Before tip, we spent $25.44 and were still hungry (so we went to Zukko and got gyoza and a sushi burrito).

The food is fine, but I just think it's too pricey for what it is. I know everything at Optimist Hall is a little overpriced (speaking for the things currently open), but this is a little more so than the others.
