About Julian Robertson, Jr.

Robertson, Jr. was born in 1932 in Salisbury North Carolina. He was married to Josephine Tucker Robertson for much of his life until she passed away in 2010.

Julian Robertson, Jr. obtained a majority of his wealth from being a hedge fund manager. After receiving his bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1955, he started as a sales trainee. Robertson eventually became CEO of Webster Management Corporation.

It wasn't long after that in 1980, when Robertson founded Tiger Management, a hedge fund that achieved a compound interest rate of 31.5% by the time it closed in 2000.

It's estimated that throughout his life, Robertson has given $1.3 billion dollars which is around 22% of his total net worth. Nowadays, he owns, lodges, resorts, and golf courses in locations like new Zealand. He has three children, is 89 years old, and resides in Locust Valley, New York.
