There's a chance you may have heard of the mega-giant retailer Walmart. There's no denying Walmart stores have exploded across the country. In fact, Ann Walton-Kroenke, the daughter of one of the founders of Walmart, is the wealthiest person in Columbia, MO. Her net worth rings in at $9.5 billion dollars.

Walton-Kroenke's father, Bud Walton, cofounded Walmart alongside his brother Sam Walton. He also served as a Navy fighter pilot in World War 2.

Walmart hit the US Stock Exchange in 1972 and it took an estimated 26 years for the retailer to grow into what it is today.

Walton died in 1995, leaving much of his Walmart stake to his daughter Ann and second daughter, Nancy Walton-Laurie as an inheritance.

About Ann Walton-Kroenke

Ann is not a part of Walmart's board of directors or executive leadership team. In fact, she's a registered nurse. She received her registered nursing degree from Lincoln University.

She allegedly met her husband, Stan Kroenke, on a skiing trip in Aspen, CO. Stan initially started a real estate development group and ended up building plazas near Walmart locations. He founded the Kroenke Group in 1983.

He is now the owner of Kroenke Sports & Entertainment which owns several high-profile sports teams like the Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche. He also shares part-ownership of the St. Louis Rams.

Anne and Stan's is reported to be an 84-acre ranch that has a private golf course and a large outdoor pool. She is also the owner of the luxury yacht Aquila, which was built as Cakewalk at Derecktor.

Ann sits at the number 227 spot on the Forbes list of billionaires and number 83 on the 2021 Forbes 400 list.
