For Dracut residents, leisure time is at an all-time low. Most people spend their weekends doing one of the following:

  1. Doing laundry, going to the grocery store, and running errands.
  2. Staying at home and staring at their phone.

Some people are content and claim they don't need leisure time. When you ask them what their interests or hobbies are, they're at a loss for words. Others admit they can't take time off because they can't stop thinking about work.

Did you know that most Americans only read 15.6 minutes per day? That's because a recent study showed that most people spend their time watching television. Over 270 minutes to be exact. Dracut residents are losing out on creating balance in their life.

If you love yourself, you would treat yourself the right way. You can get your social life back. All you have to do is act like a socialite regardless of your status or income. Here's how.

Choose Your Time Wisely

Be picky about how you spend your time. You don't want to waste your free time binge-watching Succession and eating Flamin' Hot Cheetos. No one really does. Before you know it, the workweek rolls around and you're miserable.

Spend your time wisely. Say yes to the things that light you up. Spend time with the people you care about the most. Spend one day of the week relaxing and watching all the television you want, and the other day doing something different.

Attend a Gala

One way to get out of the house and embrace your inner socialite is to attend a gala. Many of the charities and organizations you follow host annual or even monthly gatherings. Subscribe to their newsletters to get first dibs on tickets. Or, you can look for local galas in Dracut on Eventbrite or MeetUp.

Get Off Your Phone

Leave your phone at home or in your car. There's nothing exciting about watching TikTok videos all day. You don't have to go on a retreat to go off the grid. Turn off your phone and take advantage of the moment right in front of you, whether you're with friends or you're venturing out of town.

Take a Daycation

If you can't get away, enjoy a day trip to neighborhood cities like Lowell, Tyngsboro, and Methuen. You can also enjoy a drink at the Four Oaks Country Club in Dracut. You'll feel like you made it even if you're not rich.

Maybe you can book a trip to the salon or spa to feel like a million bucks. You can also escape to a neighboring beach like Heart Pond Beach or Rynne Beach. Even better, you can go boating with your family and friends, which brings us to...

Go Boating

The great thing about Dracut is that you can go boating along Mascuppic Lake. You don't have to be a celebrity to go yachting in Southern France. All you need is your bikini, plenty of sunscreen, all-you-can-eat seafood, and a cooler stocked with wine.

Throw a Party

Turn your backyard into your own garden party. Add some twinkling lights and bouquets of flowers for that added touch. Gather your friends and loved ones around for a magical night involving tea, games, and finger foods.

Learn the Culture

Spend your time learning about the culture of Dracut. For example, you can take a tour of the Town of Dracut Historical Society. Keep in mind that it's open from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. on Sundays from May to September. You can also visit the Park Memorial Library to learn more about the history of Dracut.
