Kansas City adoptable cats of the week (9-1)

Cats of Kansas City

Welcome to September and, fingers crossed, cooler temperatures. September is a great month to adopt cats, but aren't they all? You can bring any and every cat below home with you by contacting their respective shelters with the provided links.

Did you adopt a cat you found in one of these posts? I'd love it if you would share your story in the comments section below.

On with the cats!

Orbit

Orbit got her name after a woman kept seeing the cat prancing in circles, orbiting, around her Parkville home. The woman contacted a friend who volunteers at FOPAS, and they brought her into the shelter, recognizing that she was just a sweet, lost cat looking for a home.

Orbit is kind and affectionate, a tiny little girl who deserves a chance of living a good life with a loving family. Maybe yours? You can fill out a pre-adoption application to set up a meeting with Orbit. You can also check out her PetFinder page to see a cute video of the girl in action, enjoying a chin rub.

Snickers

For all of those wanting a sweet, young cat who is still getting used to indoor living, Snickers will be satisfying. Snickers is another tiny cat, like Orbit, weighing in at less than eight pounds. At sixteen months old, she already had and raised a litter of six kittens and apparently had no trouble taking off the post-partum weight.

She had been an outside cat, but the woman who was feeding her brought her in to the shelter after she had her kittens. Snickers is liking the indoor life so far, getting used to laying on laps, playing with toys, getting pets, and generally being loved by her Meowy Matchmaker caretakers. "Whoa, I could get used to this," she says. She still needs a permanent home, however, and if you're interested in learning more about her, please go here. Meowy Matchmakers might also have some of Snicker's kittens available. If not, they have other kittens they'd certainly be happy to hook you up with.

Toffee

Toffee, continuing the candy theme, is super sweet--he lives up to his name. Currently at Great Plains SPCA, Toffee would make the perfect addition to your home. He may be a little shy at first, but that's shouldn't be a deterrent. Once he warms up to you, he'll be easy, breezy, and full of love.

Toffee enjoys the simple things in life. The morning sun, the early afternoon sun, the late afternoon sun, sunsets, and maybe most of all, sleeping. It doesn't take much to make this handsome guy happy. You can learn more about Toffee here.

Here's another pic of Toffee, he's quite photogenic.

Itty

Next up we, have Itty Bitty (her friends call her Itty) from Cats Pawjamas in Olathe. She's a black and white kitten with a large, black patch covering the right side of her face, giving off Phantom of the Opera vibes (or Kane from Mortal Kombat if you're more into video games than old movies). This phantom, however, is not so mysterious--it is clear that she's a winner. She loves both play time and snuggle time, and best of all, she's great with other cats. She's a perfect fit if you've got feline fever and are looking for another to add to your corral. She'd also be great if you are looking for your one and only cat. Still, the more the merrier!

You can learn more about Itty here. Here's another pic of her when she was really itty bitty:

Tabitha

Enter Persian nobility.Photo byThe Animal Rescue Alliance

I look at a lot of cat postings, and it is incredibly rare to see a Persian pop up so don't miss your chance to adopt Tabitha, a courtesty listing on The Animal Rescue Alliance's PetFinder page.

Tabitha is an eight-year old beauty who very much loves people and attention. Tabitha travels well, including on planes, and even in her middle ages, she loves playing with toys. Can you imagine this poofball chasing around a feather wand in your home? You can make it happen! She also loves sleeping and hanging out in her kitty condo, like the Golden Girl she is.

Negatives? Not too many. She's on a prescription diet, and if you have other cats, they would give Tabitha a hard pass. Sorry. If you have dogs though, you're good to go. Learn more about Tabitha here.

That's it for this week. If you'd like to see more cats, you can visit my profile and look through old postings. Many of the cats featured on them are still available to adopt!
