Get ready, the cats are here! Here are some wonderful cats in the Kansas City area who are looking for a place to call home. If you'd like to give any of these cats a little piece of your heart, just use the links to touch base with their respective shelters. With that, let's get on with the cats!
From the Parkville Animal Shelter, we have Zendaya. For those who want to add a little euphoria to their lives:
Zendaya will be two years old in September, so she's young enough where she's full of energy and life. She is affectionate and playful--there's a cute video of her on Petfinder that will give you a better sense of that. She gets overstimulated at times, and ideally, she'd go home with someone who has experience with cats and a feel for their body language. If not, you'll learn quick when to give her a minute to wind down. With that in mind, she would also do better with older kids than younger kids.
Zendaya is a darling and would be a great choice for someone who is looking for an active cat with loads of personality. To learn more about Zendaya and to set up a time for a meet and greet, please use this link to fill out a pre-adoption application.
Next we have Shadow from TARA (The Animal Rescue Alliance) in Raytown:
Shadow (a male, around six) is a little more subdued than Zendaya and would be great if you're looking for a sweet cat that spends more time laying than playing. To stick with the Hollywood theme, if Zendaya offers euphoria, Shadow is perfect for fans of Black Panther. Shadow will make your home an instant Wakanda. It'd be best if he were your only cat though, to avoid superhero battles.
He's a bit on the shy side, but it doesn't take too long before he warms up to people. Shy cats can be hard to adopt, as can black cats, so give the guy a chance. He deserves a good home. You can learn more about Shadow here.
From Great Plains SPCA, we have Nina:
Isn't Nina an adorable little poof ball? Nina is a sweetheart who likes to lounge around the house and snuggle, to a point--she'll cozy up with you, but after a while she's had her fill.
Nina is a senior kitty in diabetic remission. That means that she doesn't need insulin but does need a special, low carb diet (Purina Pro DM) to keep her in remission. She might prefer if you didn't have dogs or cats. If you have other pets, patience may be important when you're acclimating her to her new siblings.
Did I mention her moustache? Let's get a closer look:
Come on now. She looks like she would meow with a British accent. You can learn more about this affectionate little girl here.
Meowy Matchmakers got our next pick straight from Asgard, it's Thor!
Thor is a big guy looking for a friendly lady to go home with. Meowy Matchmakers isn't sure why, but Thor really doesn't like men and would be a good option for a female-only household. If there are guys in the house, they would need to be willing to put in some work to build a friendship with him. He would also be best in a quiet home without other pets or kids.
Enough of what Thor doesn't like, what does he like? He likes women, a real ladies man. He likes pets, and he likes being carried (and again is a big cat, so you'll get your weight training in). He also likes lasers. Feather wands, too. He attacks them as if they were Loki. Bring home Thor today--he might not be Chris Hemsworth but would make a fine, fine substitute.

The movies references are finally over, but the cats aren't. Last but not least, from Cats Pawjamas, we have Dove:
What an adorable name for adorable cat. Dove is a tiny girl at just six pounds with a lovely white coat and green eyes. If you want companionship, "Lovey Dovey" is the one. She'll be your constant companion; follow you around, rub against your legs, sit on your lap, be even more of a shadow than Shadow, our cat from Wakanda. So goodbye loneliness, hello Dove! She's as sweet as can be and would love to find a place to call home.
You can learn more about Dove, here.
That's all for this week. Again, don't hesitate to contact their shelter if any of these guys tug at your heartstrings. If you'd like to see next week's cats, just give me a follow.
If you are associated with a shelter or rescue organization in the greater Kansas City area and would like to have your cats featured here, just let me know in the comments section.
