Interlaken, Switzerland: Top Reasons Why It Is The Adrenaline Capital

Not only is Interlaken, in Switzerland's Jungfrau Region, very easy on the eyes thanks to stunning panoramic mountain views, but it is also the country's adrenalin capital, serving as the launch point to winter adventure that makes this destination memorable and thrilling. It starts with a place called Vertical Rush, where you can free fall the way a base jumper does to feel the same thrill before catching slack and lowering slowly to the ground. It also includes opportunities from skydiving to paragliding and heli-skiing. And beyond pure adrenalin thrills, you can escape to remote parts of nature and go snowshoeing through a snow-covered forest to see views of the Alps you have to work for. Then, come evening, rent a pair of skates and head to Magic Ice, which connects several ice rinks with snaky routes in a festive atmosphere.

My passion for travel was unlocked when I spent some years living across Europe and South America. I've never been one to shy away from a new adventure, be it swimming with pigs in the Bahamas, bird watching in the Galapagos or Heli-Hiking in British Columbia. And while I used to mostly travel solo, I now like to hit the road with my 4-year-old son, 1-year-old-daughter and husband in tow. The best part of travel to me now is getting to see the world through their eyes. Whether they are petting goats during an Oregon farm stay or making their very own pizza in Idaho, their enthusiasm and joy never fails to remind me of why I love travel.
