Top Things To Do At Cheyenne Mountain Resort, Colorado Springs
One of my favorite weekend getaways from Denver is to Colorado Springs, with places to stay like the Cheyenne Mountain Resort. In the summertime, guests can enjoy a 35-acre lake and white sandy beaches (yes, they pull this off even at the base of majestic Cheyenne Mountain), outdoor tennis courts, and four outdoor pools. But even beyond summer and the draw of a mountainside beach, I found this resort to be a fun weekend getaway. There is an indoor aquatics center to swim laps and even indoor tennis courts to rally. But the top amenity, in my opinion, is the Alluvia Spa. Although Colorado Springs has plenty of choice restaurants, one of the best places to eat is Mountain View Restaurant at the resort. Book a table by the floor-to-ceiling windows, which overlook the resort's golf course and the overwhelming immensity of Cheyenne Mountain. The 316 rooms occupy eight separate lodges with Rocky Mountain chic decor, warm earth tones, and plenty of nature-inspired photos.
My passion for travel was unlocked when I spent some years living across Europe and South America. I've never been one to shy away from a new adventure, be it swimming with pigs in the Bahamas, bird watching in the Galapagos or Heli-Hiking in British Columbia. And while I used to mostly travel solo, I now like to hit the road with my 4-year-old son, 1-year-old-daughter and husband in tow. The best part of travel to me now is getting to see the world through their eyes. Whether they are petting goats during an Oregon farm stay or making their very own pizza in Idaho, their enthusiasm and joy never fails to remind me of why I love travel.
