Williamsburg, Virginia: Sipping on the Williamsburg Tasting Trail

Come along as we explore the Williamsburg Tasting Trail in Virginia. The Williamsburg area is home to several excellent craft breweries. One of them is Virginia Beer Co., a microbrewery that focuses on a small core line-up of high-quality beers and rotating limited-edition brews designed using a custom pump system. At AleWerks, Williamsburg's first microbrewery, you can find up to 16 beers on tap at a time. For something different, pay a visit to the area's first meadery, one of the earth's most historic fermented drinks. Mead is made by fermenting sugars found in honey then adding additional herbs, spices, and fruits to create unique flavors. Also, pay a visit to Copper Fox Distillery, the only distillery in North America to hand malt their own barley and the only on the planet to use apple and cherry wood smoke to flavor that malted barley. The Williamsburg Winery is the largest in Virginia. It produces wines in the classic European style, with a few modern enhancements.

My passion for travel was unlocked when I spent some years living across Europe and South America. I've never been one to shy away from a new adventure, be it swimming with pigs in the Bahamas, bird watching in the Galapagos or Heli-Hiking in British Columbia. And while I used to mostly travel solo, I now like to hit the road with my 4-year-old son, 1-year-old-daughter and husband in tow. The best part of travel to me now is getting to see the world through their eyes. Whether they are petting goats during an Oregon farm stay or making their very own pizza in Idaho, their enthusiasm and joy never fails to remind me of why I love travel.
