Heli Skiing with CMH: This Is Why It Will Change Your Mindset
The kinds of trips offered by Canadian Mountain Holidays, a Banff-based company, inspire you to change your lifestyle. My three-night summer heli trip to the Bobbie Burns Lodge in the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia left me with a different mindset about adventure travel. We took off for the Purcell Mountains of British Columbia by a jet-powered helicopter for a ride into the backcountry. Flying in, I'm in awe, looking out the window, where towering mountains, silty streams, emerald-hued lakes, and vibrant dots of wildflowers loom below. CMH has been running top-rated winter heli-ski trips for decades now, but they also expanded to offer summer trips incorporating rock climbing, zip-lines, hiking, and helicopters so that guests can enjoy mountain adventures year around.
My passion for travel was unlocked when I spent some years living across Europe and South America. I've never been one to shy away from a new adventure, be it swimming with pigs in the Bahamas, bird watching in the Galapagos or Heli-Hiking in British Columbia. And while I used to mostly travel solo, I now like to hit the road with my 4-year-old son, 1-year-old-daughter and husband in tow. The best part of travel to me now is getting to see the world through their eyes. Whether they are petting goats during an Oregon farm stay or making their very own pizza in Idaho, their enthusiasm and joy never fails to remind me of why I love travel.
