Part of the draw of moving to Colorado for many transplants that are from places such as Arizona or Texas is the fact that it offers sun without the scorching heat of the desert landscape.

That has been changing in the last couple of weeks because Colorado is on track to have record-breaking heat as this week continues to unfold.

June was expected to be hotter and drier than the earlier spring months of this year which brought plenty of rain. An Excessive Heat Warning has been issued for Grand Junction and Nucla in Western Colorado. This is extremely odd as there is the first-ever Excessive Heat Warning that has been issued in those parts of Colorado.

Due to the drier air in Colorado heat usually doesn't reach these levels which can be extremely dangerous for locals who aren't prepared.

The peak of the upcoming heatwave will arrive tomorrow, Wednesday, and Thursday but the heat will remain through the weekend.

Grand Junction is projected to have temperatures rising above 105 degrees throughout the week. Although Denver likely will not break monthly or all-time record highs, Boulder is forecasting temperatures above 100 degrees all week which will break their daily temperature records.

To provide you several examples:

The record high for a Tuesday in Denver is 97 degrees. The forecast for tomorrow is projecting 100 degrees.

The record high for a Wednesday in Denver is 96 degrees. The projected temperature is 99 degrees.

The record high for a Thursday in Denver is 98 degrees. The forecast for this Thursday is currently projected at 98 degrees.

Locals are being told to drink lots of water and not leave animals, children, or elderly people in cars for any period of time during this intense heat.
