Yesterday afternoon at about 6:30pm, members of the Cedar Grove Police and Cedar Grove Fire Department responded to Pompton Avenue at Ridge Road on reports of a car crashing into a pole.

According to a representative from the fire department, when the rescue crews arrived the driver had already removed themselves from the car.

  • The fire department remained at the scene while the vehicle was uprighted and towed by the tow company.

Additionally, the Verona Rescue Squad responded to assess the driver for any injury and the Verona Police Department assisted with directing traffic while Pompton Avenue was detoured.
