Blues on the Green, sponsored by Austin City Limits Radio, is the penultimate Austin music scene. It's outdoors. The large stage is in beautiful, open Zilker park, where the downtown skyline is the backdrop. In past Blues on the Green events, the audience filled every square inch of space with blankets, coolers, and dancing in the grass. It's Austin's largest free concert series. The music is bluesy, which is pays homage to Stevie Ray Vaughn, Doyle Bramhall, Lou Ann Barton and many other famous Austin blues masters.
One of Austin's current musical geniuses is host of the 2021 event, and has chosen all the performers. Gary Clark, Jr. calls it his Handpicked Homegrown All-Star Revue. The event, which take place tonight and tomorrow night, and two nights to be announced in August, features more of Austin's favorites.
If you haven't heard the Peterson Brothers Band, then you've been missing in action for the past few years. All grown up now, the Peterson brothers started performing in early adolescence, at ages 13 and 11 years of age. Ten years of performing later, they are coming into their own as mature musicians, playing just as astoundingly as they did growing up.
Other performers include Jackie Venson, Blackillac, Kydd Jones, Suzanne Santo, Eve Monsees and Jimmie Vaughan. Tomorrow night, July 28, will feature Kalu and The Electric Joint and Mobley.
The lineup for the August dates will be announced on stage July 28.
