It’s hot again in Florida and it is time to cool off and enjoy some sweets as summer starts rolling in again. Luckily, Tampa is filled with great dessert shops and no shortage of choices for where to grab a bite. Here are some recommendations on dessert shops to visit in Tampa.
Revolution Ice Cream: This local shop started off in Brandon and has since expanded to further locations around Tampa including in Seminole Heights and their most recent location in South Tampa. Revolution Ice Cream regularly rotates the list, but nearly all their ice creams are great. I highly recommend grabbing a root beer float there. My favorite flavor is Porky’s Delight, which is vanilla ice cream with bacon and bacon brittle. Their boozy ice creams are also a fun adventure. Multiple locations.
Chill Bros. Scoop Shop: A newcomer to Tampa that has quickly made a name for themselves. They claim to use Florida milk and cream. Chill Bros. has a really interesting list of ice cream flavors that fit the culture of Tampa including Cafe con Leche chunk, Tampa banana, and Guava Pastele with seasonal specials rolling out regularly. Vegan options include Coco Mocha Latte, Passionfruit, and Double Down Oreo, made with homemade oat milk, coconut cream, coconut oil, cocoa butter, and cane sugar. 1910 East 7th Avenue, Tampa, FL 33605
Flan Factory: If you love flan, you have to go to the flan factory which features tons of flan flavors on their menu as well as Cuban food for a whole experience. Flan flavors include Cafe con Leche, Guava, Arroz con Dulce, Dulce de Leche, Salted Caramel, Coconut, Cinnamon Espresso Thai Tea, Strawberry, Tiramisu, Pumpkin Pie, and more. They regularly add new options too. Tampa was once home to a rich Cuban population and it helped inspire this shop.1718 North Nebraska Avenue, Tampa, FL 33602
Bo’s Ice Cream: Bo’s is a historic ice cream shop in Tampa. I grew up going there when I was in Carrollwood back in the day and it is still standing today. Offering soft serve cones, shakes, malts, floats, banana splits, sundaes, and snow cones...you really cannot go wrong with their selections. 7101 North Florida Avenue, Tampa, FL 33604.
Nicola’s Donut Shop: You haven’t really lived until you enjoy a donut from Nicola’s Donut Shop. They have been making traditional handmade donuts for more than three decades and continuously creating new ones. Their classic and gourmet donuts, fritters, and rolls are handcrafted with the finest ingredients and baked from scratch in their store. Delicious offerings are plentiful and include a maple bacon donut, sour cream cake donut, and you can never go wrong with a glazed donut. Vegan options available on Saturdays. 902 W Busch Blvd, Tampa, FL 33612
Green Island Frozen Yogurt: Sometimes you just want boba and a smoothie and Green Island in Brandon is here for that. They have a wide-variety of milk teas and smoothies, my favorite is just a simple Thai Tea but sometimes I am adventurous and get a coconut smoothie or an avocado smoothie. Their brick toast in the past has been delicious as well. 10047 E Adamo Dr, Tampa, FL 33619
