The Christmas holiday falls on a weekend this year, but that doesn’t mean events are not happening around town. From dinner to meditation outdoors and events for kids, here are things to do this weekend from Friday, December 25th to Sunday, December 27th in Tampa Bay whether you celebrate the occasion or not.

What: Christmas at The Galley

Where:The Galley, 27 4th St N., St. Petersburg, FL 33701

When: Friday, December 25th, 3PM to 3AM

The Galley is going to be open on Christmas Day in Downtown St. Pete. This neighborhood bar is owned by St. Pete locals and aims to create a welcoming environment.

There will be a limited-menu featuring lobster and half-off bottles of wine from 3PM to 10PM. Whether you need to get out earlier in the day or not, this could be an option for you as many restaurants will be closed on Christmas Day.

What: Christmas Dinner at SHOR American Seafood Grill

Where: Hyatt Regency Clearwater Beach Resort And Spa, 301 S Gulfview Blvd, Clearwater Beach, FL 33767

When: Friday, December 25th, 4PM to 9PM

SHOR American Seafood Grill on Clearwater Beach at the Hyatt Regency Beach Resort is having a special Christmas Dinner prepared this year for guests and visitors.

Dinner will be family style for groups with 2 different 4-course options that include a Cheese and Charcuterie Board, Sausage & Chestnut Stuffed Cornish Game Hen, Spice Rubbed Tenderloin of Beef and Gingerbread Cheesecake for dessert.

Guests can upgrade to a special Tier 2 that features a seasonal cocktail and seafood platter.

What: Mermaid Tales Week

Where: Clearwater Marine Aquarium, 249 Windward Passage, Clearwater, FL 33767

When: Saturday, December 26th, 10AM to 8PM

Mermaid Tales Week kicks off on Saturday, December 26th at Clearwater Marine Aquarium and will run through Wednesday, December 30th.

Guests can enjoy underwater interactions with enchanting mermaids from 12PM to 2PM and 2:30PM to 4:30PM throughout the week. All activities are included with admission to the aquarium.

Tickets are $29.95 for adults and $24.95 for children. Face coverings are required for all guests ages 5 and older and social distancing is required for the safety of all guests at the aquarium.

What: Snow Days - A Safe Way to Play

Where: The Florida Aquarium, 701 Channelside Drive, Tampa, Florida

When: Saturday, December 26th, 9:30 AM to 9:00 PM

The Florida Aquarium located in Downtown Tampa is bringing back their annual snow event starting Saturday, December 26th through Thursday, December 31st, this time with safety at the forefront.

Kids can battle the “Sea Monsters plaguing our oceans in a good old-fashioned snowball fight”. Buckets of snow will also be available to make creations. Get your creativity on.

Don’t miss the outdoor, socially-distanced Snowfall Dance Party. Snow will “fall” overhead and all your favorite holiday songs will be playing. Exhibits with over 9,000 animals around the aquarium will be open as well and are included.

Tickets are $32.70 for adults and $27.95 for children.

What: Ybor Saturday Morning Market

Where: Centennial Park Ybor City, 1800 East 8th Avenue , Tampa, FL 33605

When: Saturday, December 26th, 9AM to 3PM

Get outside and support your local vendors for the last Ybor Saturday Morning Market of 2020 in Historic Ybor. Come hungry and support local food vendors and shop great local art and merchandise.

Many vendors accept debit and credit cards, but some are cash-only. The event is pet-friendly, family-friendly and there is free parking across the street from the market on 8th Avenue.

Organizers have asked vendors to wear masks, use hand sanitizer frequently, and socially distance as necessary. They ask that customers also wear masks and offer the same courtesy to vendors.

What: Opera Tampa’s Home For The Holidays

Where: Straz Center for Performing Arts, 1010 North Macinnes Place, Tampa, FL 33602

When: Saturday, December 26th, 6:30PM to 7:30PM, 8:30PM to 9:30PM

Home for the Holidays is happening at The Straz Center in Downtown Tampa just by the Tampa Riverwalk on Saturday, December 26th and Sunday, December 27th. There are multiple time slots. Opera Tampa Singers will sing holiday hits on the Riverwalk stage outdoors.

Tickets start at $30 for tables which seat up to 2 guests.

The Straz is taking multiple steps to protect guests and staff. Health screening is required prior to building entry and masks are required. Facemasks must cover noses and mouths and must be either a 2‐ply disposable or a reusable/washable facemask. Neck gaiters, bandanas and masks with vents are not permitted as a substitute for a proper facemask.

Cashless payments are available and strongly preferred. Complimentary hand sanitizer and sanitizing wipes are available. Touchless entry with e-tickets is strongly encouraged and is available by downloading the Straz Center app.

What: Meditation in the Park

Where: Water Work Park Tampa, 1710 North Highland Avenue, Tampa, FL 33602

When: Sunday, December 26th, 10:30AM to 11:30AM

Head outside Sunday morning for free meditation in the park in Downtown Tampa and connect with a higher power. Comfortable clothes are recommended. Bring mats, blankets, or your own lawn chairs. It will be a chilly morning so plan accordingly.

This event happens every 4th of Sunday of the month and is organized by The Portico and Hyde Park United Methodist Church.

What: Painting with a Fist Kwanzaa Celebration

Where: Queens Vision African Apparel, 4802 East Busch Boulevard #UNIT D, Tampa, FL 33617

When: Sunday, December 27th, 12PM to 3PM

Enjoy fun, food, and good vibes this Sunday, December 27th, for Painting with a Fist Kwanzaa Celebration in Temple Terrace. The event is kid-friendly and masks are required for safety. There will be a back of the building paint party.

Tickets are $30 and available on Eventbrite.
