I don’t know if you’ve read anything yet on the new Kindle Vella platform for serials, but if not, (or even if you have) here is a great place to start.

If you are not familiar, with Vella, you get to read the first three episodes free, and then you pay in “tokens” to read more episodes per story. It “costs” about 1 token per 100 words.

I was pleasantly surprised that when I got to the fourth episode Amazon gave me 500 free tokens to start using the token system for the first time. Awesome! So on to the story…

The Treasure of Hartsand Harbor is a sweet late-in-life, second-chance, slow-burn, beach romance. Here is the series blub:

Dot never thought she’d be starting life over at 40. After 22 years of being the pretty wife of a high-powered lawyer, losing everything in a messy divorce, she moves to a small beach town to soak up the sun and find purpose. Is she strong enough to start over? Is happiness just a dream? Can sun and sand mend a broken heart? Dot needs to learn to take care of herself after a life being cared for by an overbearing husband. She’s not one to back down from a challenge — but fate has plans for her.

So far there are five episodes in the series. I found the characters of Dot and Nick very engaging, with depth, and I am already fond of them. I could readily relate to them both and to their circumstances.

I think this heartfelt tale of love, loss, divorce, and starting over will make you laugh, cry, and root for Dot to win against all odds. It is perfect for lovers of later in life romance, women’s fiction novels, and sweet romance.

I don’t want to give any more away, but I’m looking forward to seeing what future episodes hold in store.

Have you tried Kindle Vella yet, for reading or writing? What do you think of the platform and of this story?
