Democratic Senator Bob Menendez is under scrutiny after it was revealed he searched for the price of a kilo of gold multiple times. This comes amid allegations that he and his wife were involved in a bribery scheme.

A recent indictment stated that after a trip to Egypt in October 2021, Menendez looked up 'How much is one kilo of gold worth?'. This search is significant as gold bars were found in the couple's home in June 2022. These gold bars are believed to be part of the bribes they allegedly accepted.

The indictment also mentions Menendez's wife thanking Fred Daibes, a New Jersey businessman, for a gift, hinting at their involvement in the bribery.

Authorities have found two one-kilogram gold bars and eleven one-ounce gold bars in the senator's home. These gold bars are believed to be part of the bribes the couple received.

Furthermore, the indictment alleges that Menendez and his wife had improper ties with three New Jersey businessmen. These businessmen supposedly bribed the couple in exchange for Menendez using his influence in Washington D.C. for their benefit.

The charges against the couple include conspiracy to commit bribery, conspiracy to commit honest services fraud, and conspiracy to commit extortion. The indictment also accuses Menendez of secretly aiding the Egyptian government.
