Terry Black's Barbecue (1003 Barton Springs Rd)

Welcome to the epitome of Texan down-home BBQ – Terry Black's Barbecue. In my wildest culinary fantasies, I could never conjure up a brisket as exquisitely succulent and bursting with flavor as the one before me. The bend on this brisket is nothing short of perfection, and you won't even need utensils to savor its magnificence.

Now, let's talk about those pork ribs; they were undeniably delicious, albeit slightly leaning towards the salty side. My taste buds suggest that they might have employed the holy trinity of spices in their preparation.

Yearning for some turkey, I ordered a thin slice of turkey breast, which set me back $4.80. Unfortunately, it didn't quite live up to my expectations of moist and flavorsome turkey. While it did boast a delightful smoky essence, it lacked the juiciness I longed for.

But fear not, for the sides came to the rescue! Each one was a delicious delight, and I have no qualms to voice in that department.

As a side note, I'd advise you to double-check your receipts. I noticed I was billed for a side of green beans that I never had on my tray, as clearly evidenced by the pictures. I opted not to dispute it, deeming it not worth the hassle.

Upon our arrival, we were fortunate enough to find no waiting time, with both indoor and outdoor seating options available. The only downside was the challenging parking situation, but when the barbecue is this good, a little parking inconvenience is a small price to pay. Terry Black's Barbecue truly lives up to its Texan reputation.

Stiles Switch BBQ (6610 N Lamar Blvd)

Stiles Switch BBQ in Austin, Texas lives up to every bit of its reputation, and it's evident from the moment you approach the building; the mouthwatering aroma alone is enough to tantalize your senses. It's easy to see how a visit here can turn into a delicious addiction.

The standout feature, beyond the outstanding food, is the exceptional service. The staff genuinely exudes enthusiasm for their work, adding an extra layer of satisfaction to your dining experience.

I must highly endorse the cornbread casserole and Brussels sprouts as must-try sides, but honestly, you can't go wrong with any choice here. However, if you're not a fan of top-notch barbecue and fantastic service, this place might not be for you.

Iron Works Barbecue (100 Red River St)

Iron Works Barbecue offers an authentic, vintage, and distinctive Texas BBQ experience that revolves around the rich flavors of wood-fired cooking. We opted for the sampler plate, and it turned out to be more than enough to satisfy both of us.

The mac and cheese were a standout, boasting excellent flavors. The brisket, tender and succulent, practically melted in our mouths, providing a delightful taste of Texas barbecue tradition. The green beans, infused with pork, offered a delightful flavor twist.

And, of course, we couldn't resist the caramelized peach cobbler, a sweet ending to our meal. The staff was exceptionally friendly, adding to the overall positive experience. We're already looking forward to our next visit to Iron Works Barbecue.

Sam's BBQ (2000 E 12th St)

As I embarked on my journey out of Austin, I made a delightful pit stop at Sam's BBQ, and it was a decision I'd soon celebrate. The standout feature of my visit was the incredibly tender brisket, cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. It was evident that the pitmasters at Sam's had honed their craft to deliver a truly exceptional barbecue experience.

But it wasn't just the food that left a lasting impression; the friendly and attentive staff added a welcoming touch to the ambiance. Their warm smiles and willingness to cater to guests made the meal even more memorable.

What caught my attention was the buzz surrounding the daiquiris. Nearly every patron I encountered couldn't stop raving about them. These icy concoctions had clearly become a local favorite and added an unexpected twist to the traditional barbecue fare.

In all, my visit to Sam's BBQ was a perfect blend of delicious food, friendly service, and a touch of local flavor, making it a memorable stop on my journey out of Austin.
