A french dip sandwich is one of life's little joys, and every once in a while I'll come across a great one. In Fort Smith, there are a few places to get a French dip, and the first one that comes to mind is Ed Walker's. A french dip is a type of roast beef sandwich that you dip in Aujus sauce, and it tastes delicious.

With the weather getting colder and daylight savings time changing, I figured there was no better time than now to showcase some of the great french dip sandwich options in Fort Smith. There is more to the sandwich than just meat and bread. A good french dip sandwich has many ingredients that make it delicious, and when it's made right, there is nothing better.

Ed Walkers is of course the first stop anyone should make in Fort Smith for a delicious french dip sandwich. In fact, this is one of the oldest and most well-known spots in Fort Smith. Their claim to fame is the French dip sandwiches, which are made with fresh roast beef and wrapped in a bread roll. The Aujus sauce is made in house, and there is nothing else like it.

But what if you don't want the norm? There are other options for a french dip sandwich in Fort Smith. Calico County has long been one of my favorite eating spots in Fort Smith. The menu has a diverse blend of home cooked options to choose from. But when you want something light and quick, nothing beats a French dip sandwich.

The french dip sandwiches at Calico County are made to order, and they generally come to the table piping hot. The roast beef is deli cut in nice thick slices, and the rolls have just the right amount of butter on them. The french dip sandwich here is served with the side of your choice, although I generally go for the french fries.

You can taste the quality when you bite into the sandwich, and if you are in a rush, you can order for pickup. Like Ed Walkers, Calico County has been in the Fort Smith area for a long time, and the food has survived the test of time. Both places have excellent customer service, and that makes the experience even better.

There are many other places to find a French dip sandwich in Fort Smith, but these two are my go-to spots. As I've said, nothing beats the taste of a delicious french dip sandwich. As the weather gets colder, there is no better lunch item.
