Who Has The Tastiest Barbecue In Fort Smith, Arkansas?

Cameron Eittreim

Fort Smith, Arkansas is one of the most historic cities in the United States, and living here for six years has been a pleasure. The change of scenery from California has been immense, and one of the great things about living in Fort Smith is the culinary scene. Of course, you can't live in the south without experiencing the barbecue, and Fort Smith has a robust barbecue scene.

The barbecue scene in Fort Smith is dominated by a few well known spots, one of which you'll see as soon as you come over the Garrison bridge. What makes Fort Smith barbecue different than anywhere else is the unique flavor that you'll only find here. It's hard to describe the barbecue flavor that comes out of Fort Smith, but once you try it, you'll be hooked. Let us check out some of my favorite barbecue spots here in Fort Smith.

Art's BBQ & Burgers

8203 Rogers Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72903

Art's BBQ & Burgers is the ultimate way to get acclimated to life in Fort Smith, because the food here is delicious. Obviously barbecue and burgers are the perfect combination, so when a place sells both, you know that you are in for something special. The menu at Art's BBQ & Burgers is perhaps one of the most well laid out assortments in Fort Smith. The exterior of the restaurant is very rough and tumbled, but the flavor that awaits you inside is phenomenal.

The inside of the restaurant has a great look and feel, with cool neon lighting and red brick walls. You can smell the delicious smell of barbecue resonating throughout the restaurant. The staff here is extremely friendly and welcoming. You literally feel like you are sitting down at a family barbecue. The menu has all the favorites you'd expect. The brisket melt and the twice baked potato are beyond delicious, and the rest of the menu is great too.

There are many barbecue places in Fort Smith, and they all have something special to offer. But Art's BBQ & Burgers has that special taste that helps separate them. Whether you have the brisket, ribs, or even the coleslaw, the flavor is exceptional. I highly recommend going to Art's BBQ & Burgers if you want something a little different than the norm.

Neumeier's Rib Room

424 Garrison Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72901

As soon as you come over the bridge onto Garrison Ave, you can smell the delicious barbecue being grilled at Neumeier's Rib Room. In fact, the smell is resonating as early as 7AM when I would be driving on my way to work. That amount of time and effort they put into grilling is part of the reason that this is some of the most delicious barbecue that you'll have. But Neumeier's isn't just a barbecue joint, it's a live music venue that offers up some of the best culture in the area.

Where else can you enjoy delicious barbecue and great live music year round? But let's be honest, the music isn't the only reason why people visit Neumeier's Rib Room, it's the delicious food. The menu at Neumeier's is diverse, but let's be honest, ribs are the name of the game. So what exactly makes a Neumeier's rib so good? Well, the delicious sauce is the first thing, it's sort of a slow glaze with a nice texture on it. There is spice in the sauce, but it's not so fiery that it overpowers the flavor of the meat.

When you bite into the delicious ribs, you will notice the wonderful texture of the meat right away. The staff here is beyond friendly and courteous, and the location of the restaurant is perfectly suited to the downtown nightlife. The outdoor patio is excellently put together, with comfortable seating and an easy view of the live stage. Did I mention the music here isn't bad either? There is always a new act playing. Neumeier's Rib Room is a must if you want to have some of the most delicious ribs in the river valley.
