Pizza is a beloved American food choice, no matter where you go to enjoy it. There are some cities with their own unique type of pizza, and others with some well known establishments. When you hear the name Houston, Texas pizza isn't the food first that comes to mind. But, in the beautiful city, there are quite a few delicious pizza restaurants to choose from.
Because of the diverse culture that Houston has, there are plenty of dining establishments to choose from. When it comes to pizza, you have a choice of different types, from traditional to the more gourmet. When I enjoy a slice of pizza, I look at the quality of the crust and how the ingredients all mesh together. Below we will look at some of my favorite pizza places in Houston, Texas.
Frank's Pizza
417 Travis St, Houston, TX 77002
There are two things that I like about this pizza place: first, the single slices are incredibly large, and secondly, the pizza is traditional New York style. The large thin-crust slices are easy to hold and enjoy, and you can buy them as single slices or as a whole pizza. The menu is made up of the usual favorites, as well as some unique options.
If you are a carnivore, then you will enjoy the meat lovers, which has salami, pepperoni, and chunks of sausage. The sauce is unique to this restaurant, and you've probably never tasted anything like it before. When it comes to pizza, fresh ingredients make all the difference in the world, and this pizza is about as fresh as you can get.
Pizaro's Pizza Napoletana
1000 W Gray St, Houston, TX 77019
For a totally authentic pizza, there is only one place I go to when I am in Houston, and that's Pizaro's Pizza Napoletana. What separates this place from the other choice? Simple, a brick oven. These pizzas are baked in a wood burning brick oven, the old fashioned way, and you'll never taste anything like it.
There are dozens of different ways to bake a pizza, but the brick oven is by far one of my most favorite. The flavor of the crust and the sauce just comes out like nothing else in the world when it's baked in a brick oven. The Chicago style pizza has a deep dish crust and large chunks of fresh mozzarella scattered over the top. If you enjoy fresh and authentic pizza, you've always wanted to try brick oven style pizza, then I recommend this place.
