You'll notice that workers around the city of Sallisaw have begun to install holiday lighting decorations. The annual Christmas Tree Lighting has been announced for November 18th around 6 p.m. The event takes place in the heart of downtown in front of the Stanley Tubbs Memorial Library located at 101 E Cherokee Ave.

The event has long been a tradition in the city where you can bring the kids to and watch the beautiful tree become lit for the holiday season. According to the Sequoyah County Times, crews have been busy setting up holiday decorations around the city as early as November 5th. The ceremony will start at 6 p.m. and features a parade and live music.

Bringing the kids out on such a cold night can be daunting, but there will also be hot cocoa at the event. The lighting of the tree will continue until the New Year's Holiday. The streets of downtown Sallisaw are also lit up with decorations, which help add to the holiday spirit of the city. The small town atmosphere, coupled with the beautiful decorations, is worth visiting.

Some decorations already up say Merry Christmas and Seasons Greetings, and are located along Cherokee Avenue. The street lights along the downtown shopping district are also lit up for the holidays as well.

There will be plenty of parking at the event, and it will take place on a Thursday night. Families are encouraged to come out and witness the festivities as it is a family event that has taken place for years.
