Coffee is the universal way of life, and there are so many coffee shops in Fort Smith. There is more to coffee than just going down to your local Starbucks, and sometimes an independent cafe is the better option. To me, coffee isn't a frozen blended drink or an ice coffee. I like to taste the different roasts that come from all over the world. The remarkable thing about independent coffee roasters is their taste is incomparable, compared to the corporate juggernauts that we are all familiar with. These locations in Fort Smith I have visited a time or two, and I thoroughly enjoy going to them.
Fort Smith Coffee Co.
1101 Rogers Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72901.
The Fort Smith Coffee Co. is located in the heart of downtown Fort Smith, in an area known as the Bakery District. The hip and happening area is home to all kinds of unique shops and restaurants, as well as community events. FSCO started roasting their own beans and selling them at local venues around the area. Then in May 2017, the beautiful cafe opened up to the public.
The laid back atmosphere at this cafe makes stopping there to get a drink a pleasurable experience. If you want to spend time writing or catching up on work, there is no better place where you can get it done. The menu is diverse, and what this place isn't is a rip-off of Starbucks. Everything at the Fort Smith Coffee Co. is uniquely theirs, and the flavoring is divine.
The Artistic Bean
615 Garrison Ave, Fort Smith, AR 72901.
Talk about a local experience like no other. This is a cafe where you can learn a thing or two. The Artistic Bean is an organic coffee roasting shop, which also offers various unique drinks. Whether you want a latte or an expresso, there will certainly be something for you to choose from. Likewise, the owner displays immense knowledge of coffee roasting and is not afraid to explain the differences to you.
There is also a menu that features delicious baked goods and lunch items. The French toast tastes like it could melt in your mouth, served with organic maple syrup on the side. The location is centralized in the heart of downtown, so making a stop there is light. But watch out, because the coffee is so good that you might find yourself leaving with more than you bargained for.
