As Winter approaches, there is never a better time to explore. Walking is a wholesome activity that you can do anywhere. Fort Smith has many unique areas to walk, and the weather during the winter isn't bad most of the time. Save for a few extreme ice storms, you can easily visit a few of these areas.
When I go to a walking trail, I look for something near enough to dining locations, or at least somewhere to grab a drink. These areas are centrally located in the heart of Fort Smith, close to plenty of great places where you can shop and eat after your hike. These walking spots are also child friendly, which means you can take a stroller along easily.
Creekmore Park
3301 S M St, Fort Smith, AR 72903.
Creekmore Park is located in downtown Fort Smith, and features many attractions, as well as a beautiful walking trail. Whether you want to play mini-golf, tennis, or just wander around, there is plenty to see and do here. The park is also right next to a shopping center with a Sweetbay Coffee location, as well as a Dollar General.
The walking trail is well laid out and circled the entire park, so if you want to go jogging, this is the perfect spot to do it. I've lived in many prominent cities, including Sacramento, California, and Creekmore Park, which has to be one of the most well appointed walking trails I have encountered. The quality of the park and the variety makes this a great place to get some exercise.
