Top Ramen Restaurants in San Jose

Who does not love a bowl of ramen? This warm, comforting dish has always been a favorite of mine growing up and I went from eating instant ramen as a kid to diving into some of the best noodles San Jose has to offer. If you happen to be a ramen fan like myself and most people in the world, then put a visit to San Jose on your list. San Jose has some great options for anyone craving a giant bowl of savory broth and delicious noodles. Since choosing the best ramen spot can be a little tricky, I have created a list of my favorites places. If you are in the mood for ramen, keep reading to learn about the three best ramen spots in in San Jose.

Ramen Nagi

It does not get any easier than Ramen Nagi. Ramen Nagi is an instant classic and you absolutely can not go wrong with anything on their menu. This restaurant located on Stevens Creek Boulevard will walk you through how to craft the perfect bowl of ramen. They allow you to choose your favorite base broth, flavoring, noodles, and toppings. Since it is almost impossible to go wrong with any mix of options here, I like to let the chef decide for me. If you are not quite in the mood to craft your own bowl, they have a few prefab items, and they are all winners. What I like to do is challenge myself with one of their spiciest bowls because believe me, they can make it spicy. Those who like it spicy must try their red king ramen and if you want the challenge, get a spicy level between 3-5.

Hokkaido Ramen Santouka

When I visit Hokkaido Ramen Santouka, I make sure to have an empty stomach. If you are feeling adventurous, order their takoyaki as a starter. These fried octopus balls come topped with a delightful Japanese mayo. For my ramen, I order the tonkotsu kara miso ramen. It has just the perfect amount of spice. I top mine with pork cheeks and braised pork belly. Santouka is honestly one of the most solid bowls of ramen I've ever had. And it's very budget friendly. If it wasn't for the top tier ramen spots opening up in San Jose, this would be my all time favorite. They also offer rice bowls for anyone not in a ramen mood and it is amazing. This place is just a hit on my list. And it's inside a Japanese market so after eating a hefty bowl of ramen, walk it off by shopping some of your favorite Japanese groceries.

HiroNori Craft Ramen

Located on Great America Parkway, HiroNori Craft Ramen is one of the top ramen spots around. They boast broths that simmer for no less than 24 hours to ensure a rich flavor. When I visit, I get their shoyu ramen with all the fixings. If I have room, I order a cucumber crab salad on the side. For a ramen place, they also have fantastic steamed pork buns. Once you have finished filling up on their awesome broth and noodles, you will want to treat yourself to an order of their mochi ice cream for dessert. There are plenty of vegan options as well.

Whether you live in the bay area or are planning a visit, make sure to make time for a ramen run. This traditional comfort food will please even the pickiest of palates. Any of the above-mentioned San Jose restaurants will most certainly offer you an authentic and savory experience. You can plan on crafting your own ramen bowl to meet your taste, or you can leave it up to the chef to create a meal that is sure to be a hit. When it comes to eating ramen, there are no wrong answers.
