LA Sheriff to Start Naming Deputies Who Shoot Suspects Within 30 Days of Incident

In a policy shift, the Los Angeles Sheriff's Department will be releasing the names of deputies who shoot civilians within 30 days of an incident, information that typically could be withheld from the public for months, possibly years. Los Angeles criminal defense attorney Mark Davis attributed the about-face to pressure from technological advancements in how the public can now witness and disseminate information about police shootings. However, the lawyer told Cheddar that he was still skeptical that Sheriff Alex Villanueva will truly follow through on the change. #california
