San Francisco announced a shelter in place order beginning at midnight on March 17th. San Francisco was one of the first cities in the United States to take such strict measures to slow the spread of COVID-19. Initially announced to conclude on April 7th, San Francisco's shelter in place order was extended to continue through May 3rd as a surge of coronavirus cases both locally and nationally is expected.
