Elon Musk is the world's wealthiest person. According to Forbes, he has a net worth of $279.3 billion at age 50. Elon runs four companies. These are Tesla and SpaceX, plus two small start-ups, Neuralink and The Boring Company.
In June 2021, Elon Musk mentioned his house via Twitter. He tweeted that his home “is literally a ~$50k house in Boca Chica / Starbase that I rent from SpaceX. He added, "it is kinda awesome, though."
But, the Journal reports otherwise. For about a year, Musk lived in a nearly 8,000-square-foot estate owned by Howery. Ken Howery is the co-founder of PayPal and former U.S. ambassador to Sweden. The Journal also notes that Howery bought it in 2018 for $12 million. Back then, it was the most expensive property on the Austin market. (source)
The billionaire did not mention when he bought the property. Realtors note the unusual price tag of the house. Noting listings are more expensive now. One property currently for sale on Weems Street is a 1,000-square foot home. It got listed as a "fixer-upper" for "SpaceX enthusiasts," for $375,000. (source)
